Cesar Villavicencio

Improviser, researcher and interpreter of baroque and contemporary music, Cesar Villavicencio completed his PhD (2008) at the University of East Anglia, UK, with the thesis “The Discourse of Free Improvisation. A Rhetorical Perspective on Free Improvised Music”. In 2012 he finished a postdoctoral research on the field of music improvisation at the Universidade de São Paulo. In 1998 obtained the Soloist Diploma  at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 2012, he founded the recorder consort As Flautas de São Paulo. Villavicencio acted as guest teacher at the Royal Conservatory (2001-2004) and presently teaches at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). He works regularly with electronics for the performance of music.
